Fandom: Spider-Man trilogy / The Amazing Spider-Man
Wasn’t in the original two movies: Well, it’s not her fault that she didn’t show up. If anything, shouldn’t people be blaming Sam Raimi for shoving Gwen into Spider-Man 3 and introducing Mary Jane as Peter’s first high-school love…
I could not allow this tomfoolery, especially considering how terrible the reasons for hating her are! The Naruto fandom’s extreme sexism towards literally all female characters in the canon is just terrible in general, so I decided to defend Tsunade!
She doesn’t even have…
I never thought I’d be defending my favorite starter, but when I saw the reasons for it being hated, I just needed my voice to be heard.
1. Shallow move pool
Okay, I agree that it DOES have a shallow move pool and they could have done better, but it can learn a number of useful moves through TMs. There’s not much else to really say besides to try and find a good move set for it.
2. Didn’t follow on from the “cute witch” theme Braixen had
This one is really more of a “Personal opinion”, but just to add my two cents, I like Delphox’s design. It’s a step back from the “cute” factor and gives it a more grown-up, elegant appearance. Also, because Kalos is based off of France, and the starter line is a mage/witch-warrior/knight-assassin/ninja lineup, I think it captures the “witch” theme in a more elegant light instead of being cute or scary.
3. Typing results in it being weak to common offensive moves and Stealth Rock
It’s not a PHYSICALLY defensive Pokemon. I thought everyone realized that. And it’s a STARTER. Most, if not all, fire-type starters are weak to Stealth Rock, especially Charizard, who takes 50% damage. Now, as for the weaknesses, yes, it does have a GREAT disadvantage physically, but it’s also very fast, and specially defensive. I have a Delphox, and from personal experience, it does well in Speed, Spec. Defense, and Spec. Attack. Like every Pokemon, Delphox has POTENTIAL. There’s always going to be its weaknesses and where it needs a little more work in, but when you really look at it, Delphox isn’t bad to have on a team.
I’m not even going to bother with this one. It’s based off of a fox, and foxes are furry. DEAL WITH IT. And if you have a problem with furry Pokemon, fire-starters especially, just remember it’s not a Fire/Fighting, so at least we’re making progress.
To finish this off, Delphox is like any other Pokemon out there. It has its pros and its cons, so you just need to make the best of it in some way, shape, or form. Also, if you hate a Pokemon just for its design, that’s pretty sad. I’m not saying that I’m right, but I’m just reminding you what Pokemon is all about and why I think the hate Delphox gets is kind of pointless.
A bit surprising for me, I thought fennekin’s evolution line would be LOVE!
- Character: Haruhi Fujioka
- Fandom: Ouran High Host Club
- Reason for Being Hated: A slut, having boys fall for her, boring, ugly, rude, should have been a boy instead, also being… wait for it… a Mary Sue, and getting in the way/slash ruining the the boy pairings
I actually can’t believe these reasons but alright. Also another long one with an unrelated general note about that last one if that’s okay because I’m sick of hearing this;
a lot of female characters who “get in the way” of slash would actually be supportive of the guys dating, even if it hurt their own feelings because if you really love someone you would put their happiness above your own (for those with crushes on one of the males in the ship) and I’ve seen way too many characters just like that get shit on for “getting in the way” of ships they would actually support! For those who don’t have romantic inclinations in canon then even more so, I would bet money that a majority of these female characters would help them get together and be so supportive of them!
